This Christmas if you’re bored of giving your Granny a set of hankies or your Dad another road atlas and you need a bit of inspiration, then the RCA is the perfect place to shop as it opens its first Christmas Fête to the public from 6 to 9 December.
RCA students and graduates will be selling a range of affordable, beautiful and unique art and design pieces that are sure to make your friends and family smile. Items start from as little as £2 and range from a tongue-in-cheek nativity set; kitsch chimpanzee pin cushions; a flat-pack wooden birdhouse; a folding cardboard desk light and tea-cup jewellery. This is a fantastic opportunity to pick up original Christmas gifts as well as helping to support up and coming creative student talent.
The Fête will be located in a marquee on Jay Mews (just opposite Kensington Gardens) and will also feature a pop up café serving festive sweet treats courtesy of Kath’s Cakes, hot chocolate and mulled soft drinks. The Fête has been organised by the RCA Students’ Union to help promote the work of students to a wider audience.
Visitors to the Christmas Fête will also be able to view the College’s 175th anniversary exhibition, The Perfect Place to Grow, located in the Kensington galleries. With free late night entry on Friday 7 December until 8pm, this will be a chance to visit both events on the same night.
